An elliptical billiard-table
You can illustrate the focal properties of the ellipse with a billiard-table (with elliptical outline). If you strike a ball in one of the foci, it will end up in the hole on the other focus, no matter where you throw it. From the exhibition Matemática viva, Lisbon, 2000.
