Crossed hood
The border of the Moebius strip consists of only one circumpherence: this animation shows what happens to the Moebius strip if we move this circumpherence in order to position it in the three-dimensional space in the usual way. A slider controls the passage, while other buttons give you the possibility of cutting the Moebius strip (as we can see in the figure) and seeing it entire, or the possibility of observing a line segment that runs across the Moebius strip. The final result of this animation is the so-called "crossed hood", that has some self-intersections. See another animation, in which we see the same passage on the Moebius strip without self-intersections.
