A link with three components
This three-component link can be disposed so that it has the same "shadow" of the Borromean rings. Indeed, it is a very different knot: for exmple, each couple of circumpherence is simply tied and this doesn't happen in the Borromean rings: it is a torus knot of type (3,3). In this poster of the exhibition matemilano you can find similar examples. See also the interactive animation Borromean and non-Borromean rings to better realize the difference.
