Dodecahedra
This structure made of three dodecahedra is used for children to climb, in the park Mignone, in Bolzano. You can see it also from a different point of view.
A maths signpost nearby remarks that, as the faces of a dodecahedron are 12 pentagons, also a
football is made out of some hexagons and exactly 12 pentagons; and also a
golf ball is made out of many more hexagons but exactly 12 pentagons. This is a consequence of Euler relation.
The signpost is one of the ten maths signposts of the project MIC "Maths in the city", in Bolzano.
